Proverbs 3:1-10 - Issues of the Heart

Comments

A lengthy point was made during this lesson regarding the Hebrew emeth in Proverbs 3:3 being translated "faithfulness" in modern translations rather than "truth," with the Septuagint being one of the supporting reasons. As it turns out, if you look at the Septuagint (for example, go here: https://www.blueletterbible.org/lxx/pro/3/1/s_631001), the Greek word used by the translators is "pistis" which is almost always translated as "faith" in English... not "truth."

On a somewhat related note, a point is later made regarding "navel" vs. "flesh" or "body" in Proverbs 3:8. Since the Septuagint was pointed to during the discussion of 3:3 above, why not look at the Septuagint here as well? As it turns out, those translators used the Greek word "soma" which is almost always translated as "body."
